It's hard not to admire paintings found on cave walls and ceilings of prehistoric origin. The earliest from 40,000 years ago but the exact purpose of these cave paintings is not known.They are also often located in areas of caves that are not easily accessible. Some theories hold that cave paintings may have been a way of communicating with others, while other theories ascribe a religious or ceremonial purpose to them.
2013 North Queensland Local Government Association (NQLGA) in
Cooktown Thursday 3 & Friday 4 October with about 100 delegates and
partners for the annual conference at the PCYC Cooktown Events Centre.
The local artists and crafts people from
Cooktown School of Art Society and Cooktown Creative Arts Association
are displaying their wares for sale at the conference. Local businesses
have also been invited to support the conference through special offers
on tours and supply of products and services. Delegates come from all
areas of North Queensland from Mackay in the South, to Torres Strait in
the North and Mt Isa in the West. A great range of key note speakers
will talk on various topics reflective of current trends and interest in
local government today. The timing of the conference has fallen on the
140th anniversary of the founding of Cooktown.
